June is LGBTQ Pride Month!
Celebrate with us, learn more about the various groups, and enjoy!
June was officially marked as Pride Month in 1999, though it started long before then. June was chosen by the LGBTQ community as a way to remember the Stonewall Riots that took place in June, 1969, in Manhattan.
The first Pride March was held June 28, 1970 in New York City. What started as riots and protests which were dangerous to attend evolved over the last 50 years to the large, colorful, and joyful celebrations that occur across the country today.
Happy 50th Anniversary!
