Toni Morrison was born in Lorain, Ohio, in 1931. She is a professor and editor, but is best known for her deeply thematic and detailed novels, for which she has won both a Pulitzer Prize and a Nobel Prize. She is known for her moving stories about black women. She retired from Princeton in 2006 and continues to publish her novels.
