Maria Tatar is a professor of Germanic languages and literatures at Harvard University. She teaches courses in German Studies, Folklore, and Children's Literature (see her university web page). Originally from Hungary, Dr. Tatar is an authority on the history and meanings of fairy tales, especially those of Germanic people groups.

Long before there was Monty Python, there were the legends of Arthur Pendragon, King of the Britons, said to have reigned in the 5th and 6th centuries C.E. While historians debate the historicity of Arthurian tales, his adventures with the Knights of the Round Table continue to fascinate readers hundreds of years after his famous quest.
